About Atlanta

A little settlement named Atlanta was first established in the 1830s at the junction of two railroads. Atlanta might have completely vanished after the Civil War when the majority of the city was destroyed. Instead, the city arose from the ruins and developed into a significant global hub for trade and tourism.

When you say you want to relocate to Atlanta do you mean inside the perimeter or outside the perimeter ?

The actual city of Atlanta, which is surrounded by the city limits and is primarily situated inside the 285 perimeter, had a population of roughly 500,000 as of 2019. The Atlanta metropolitan region, which has more than 6 million people and spans 16 counties, is in fact the seventh-largest city in the US.

You will enjoy all the benefits of a large international city whether you choose to relocate within the boundaries of Atlanta proper or to one of the 140 cities and towns that make up the wider Atlanta metropolitan area.

The Weather

Long summers and moderate winters play a big part in drawing  new residents to Atlanta. Temperatures rarely drop below freezing for an extended period of time, even in January, and only small dustings of snow are common. You may anticipate warm afternoons and nights starting in April and continuing until almost November, which are ideal for going for a walk around your neighborhood or taking a dip in the pool.

Transportation

Atlanta is a dynamic city with a lot of transportation options. While you can not avoid sitting in traffic if you choose to travel by car , there are other options available:

  1. MARTA: The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) operates a bus and rail system throughout Atlanta and the surrounding areas. MARTA has four rail lines that run throughout the city and connect to the airport, as well as over 100 bus routes.
  2. Car: Atlanta is a car-friendly city with a well-developed road system. There are several major highways that run through the city, including I-75, I-85, and I-20. However, traffic can be heavy during rush hour, so plan accordingly.
  3. Uber and Lyft: These ride-sharing services are popular in Atlanta and can be a convenient way to get around the city, especially if you don’t want to drive.
  4. Taxis: Taxis are available in Atlanta, but they can be more expensive than ride-sharing services.
  5. Biking: Atlanta has a bike share program called Relay, which allows users to rent bikes for short-term use. The city also has several bike lanes and paths for cyclists.
  6. Walking: Depending on where you are in the city, walking can be a convenient way to get around. The city has several pedestrian-friendly areas, such as the BeltLine, a former railway corridor that has been converted into a multi-use trail.
The Airport

We are not exaggerating when we say that Atlanta is served by a top-notch airport. In 24 of the last 25 years, Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta has held the title of busiest airport in the world. At this busy airport, only seven miles south of the city center, more than 1,000 aircraft depart daily for 225 different local and international destinations. The biggest airline hub in the world, Hartsfield-Jackson is also where Delta Airlines is based.

The airport has two terminals, the Domestic Terminal and the Maynard H. Jackson Jr. International Terminal, which are connected by the Plane Train. It has a wide range of amenities, including numerous dining and shopping options, as well as services such as currency exchange, baggage storage, and a pet relief area. It is located approximately 10 miles (16 km) south of downtown Atlanta and can be accessed by car, taxi, or public transportation.

Despite these staggering figures, Atlanta’s airport is surprisingly open and friendly to both locals and tourists. There are more than 300 restaurants and retail establishments spread across the seven concourses at Hartsfield-Jackson, making something accessible from every gate.
